B i o g r a p h y

Joshua Reznicow (b. 1975) is an active composer, music educator, and guest conductor for youth and honor orchestras. For more than 25 years, he has taught middle and high school orchestra in the Linn-Mar Community School District. Under his leadership, Linn-Mar orchestras have earned numerous awards and superior ratings at regional festivals and have twice been recognized as a Grammy Signature School music program.

In addition to his public school teaching career, Reznicow has served on the faculty of several area institutions. He has taught composition at Coe College, founded and directs the University Strings program at Mount Mercy University, and was recently appointed Music Director of the Cedar Rapids Community Orchestra (CRCO). In this role, he collaborates with community musicians and students through Kirkwood Community College to promote musical excellence and educational opportunities throughout the region.

His work has been recognized through both regional and national honors. In 2005, he won the Texas Orchestra Directors Association (TODA) Annual Composition Contest. He was named the Iowa Classroom Teacher of the Year in 2011 and was later recognized as a Distinguished Alumnus of the University of Northern Iowa.

As a guest conductor, Reznicow has led orchestras throughout the United States, with recent appearances in Arkansas, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Nebraska, Texas, Utah, and throughout Iowa.

As a composer, his music has been commissioned and performed throughout North America, Europe, and Asia by both professional and educational ensembles. His catalog includes works for string orchestra, full orchestra, concert band, chamber ensembles, and film. Reznicow has received multiple performances at The Midwest Clinic International Band and Orchestra Conference, and his compositions have appeared numerous times on J.W. Pepper’s Editor’s Choice list for both string and full orchestra publications. His music is published by Randall Standridge Music, Zicato Music, Tempo Press, Kendor Music, LudwigMasters, Latham Music Publishers, TRN Music Publisher, and Keiser Southern Music.

Reznicow is an active member of several professional organizations, including the American String Teachers Association (ASTA), the Iowa String Teachers Association (ISTA), the Iowa Composers Forum (ICF), and the Iowa String Orchestra Affairs Committee (SOAC). He previously served as Member-at-Large East on the ISTA Board of Directors and as Secretary of the Iowa Composers Forum. He also serves as Assistant Coordinator of the Iowa All-State Orchestra.

Joshua resides in Marion, Iowa, with his wife, Karen, and their children, Andrea and Aiden.
